There is a chance that you will enter 2022 with a new truck. Or, even if your truck isn’t new, 2021’s adventures may have done a number on it, so this checklist will ensure 2022 will treat your vehicle right. There are so many factors that play into truck maintenance. We often forget about most of them because the maintenance list goes on and on it seems. Therefore, try following this checklist to keep your truck in its best shape!

Creating Your Checklist

There are three main categories to consider when creating or following a checklist for vehicle maintenance: cab, under the hood, and chassis. These are some common areas on a truck that routinely need maintenance, and they can be crucial if forgotten about. Therefore, when going down your checklist, prioritize certain areas of your vehicle.

Truck Checklist

  • Check and change engine oil routinely
  • Check transmission fluid routinely
  • Check drive shafts or CV joints routinely
  • Check the belts, hoses, and any other small connecting pieces under the hood
  • Pay attention to what your fuel system needs—it is time for a cleaning?
  • Pay attention to what your cooling system needs—how is the coolant?
  • Get regular tune-ups as needed
  • Keep your tires in good shape by maintaining the air pressure and rotating them
  • Get your brakes checked when you get oil changes
  • Have your horn checked
  • Take care of the body, mirrors, and glass with routine washes and detailing
  • Take care of your auxiliary system
  • Change and check on your windshield wipers and their effectiveness.
  • Ensure proper care for leather or cloth seats.
  • Make sure all seat belts in the vehicle are working properly
  • Check your steering and suspension systems

Save Time and Money with This Checklist

These are just some of the basic, most common things that can go wrong with a truck. Some of these may seem silly to check routinely, but if you notice something is broken or not working properly, you may be glad you checked it when you did, rather than waiting until it got worse, which is sure to cost you. Keeping up with this checklist will save you time and money in the long run!
