1st Annual Rebel Golf Invitational – A Swing for the George County High School Golf Team

August 8th, 2025 by

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the Whispering Pines Golf Course in Hurley, MS, was alive with friendly competition, community spirit, and the sound of well-struck golf balls as teams gathered for the 1st Annual Rebel Golf Invitational. This inaugural event brought together local businesses, supporters, and golf enthusiasts for a great cause — all proceeds benefiting the George County High School Golf Team.

The Walt Massey team was proud to attend and sponsor a special Hole-in-One Challenge with a $20,000 prize toward a vehicle. It was just one more way we were able to add excitement to the day while helping raise funds for the Rebels’ program.

Representing Team Walt Massey were:

  • Payton Massey

  • Frankie Wade

  • James Massey

  • Walt Williams

And they didn’t just show up — they showed out!

🏆 Tournament Results:

🥇 1st Place – Walt Massey (53)

🥈 2nd Place – Mobile Lumber (54)

🥉3rd Place – Rocky Creek Catfish (54)

Supporting Our Local Student-Athletes

The George County High School Golf Team is made up of dedicated student-athletes who put in countless hours honing their skills both on and off the course. They represent the spirit of hard work, sportsmanship, and pride in their school. Funds raised from this event will help provide equipment, uniforms, travel expenses, and tournament fees — ensuring the team has what they need to compete at the highest level.

At Walt Massey, supporting local schools isn’t just something we do — it’s who we are. We believe that investing in young athletes helps build stronger communities, and events like the Rebel Golf Invitational are the perfect opportunity to come together, have fun, and make a real impact.

We’d like to thank the organizers, participants, and sponsors who made the first Rebel Golf Invitational such a huge success. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event — and maybe even defending our title!
